A different kind of caffeine kick, contained to a single gummy. Game Bytes was founded to revolutionize how we consume caffeine. As a competitor to coffee and energy drinks, Game Bytes caters especially to gamers seeking to boost their performance with a quick and yummy solution.

We took inspiration directly from 90s and 00s game aesthetics, bringing nostalgia to the online shopping experience. Bright colors, bold fonts and dynamic movement triggered by user behaviour were the foundation of the design and user experience.

Although Game Bytes launched with a single flavor, we always build things to last which is why we took multiple flavors into consideration when creating the design system.

Dynamic product pages were built so that colors could be changed on a per product basis down the line whenever an additional flavor launched.

What screams 90s nostalgia more than the snake game? To drive the gaming theme home we added an actual game as a little gimmick on the landing page where users could play while they browse.

As always we took a mobile first approach to the design which can be challenging when working with a lot of elements like floating gummies and lightning bolts. The key is editing things down to where it is just enough.

The target audience being gamers meant we needed to keep things fun and engaging. We put a lot of focus on mouse and scroll interactions that were directly related to how the user interacts with the website. We had gummies rotating on scroll and the product image 3D rotate on swipe.

Establishing a balance between having fun and keeping things usable is something we always put a lot of attention towards. At the end of the day it is still e-commerce and we won't compromise on usability. The cart and main navigation have everything you would expect, both with a few fun twists.
